Surcharge in respect of instalments of advance tax. - Income Tax - 1773/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1773/CBDT Dated: October 9, 1987 According to the Ordinance promulgated by the Central Government on 19.9.87, and the Circular No.494 (F.No.153/34/84-TPL) dated 22.9.87 issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, the surcharge in respect of the instalments of advance tax which fell due on 15.6.87 and 15.9.87 was to be paid by the assessee by 30.9.87. 2. Various organisations have now represented that the time given for the payment of surcharge was too short. On consideration of the representation, it has been decided by the Board that where such payments are made by the 30th October, 1987 no penalties should be levied. These instructions may be brought to the notice of all officers working under your charge.
