As per regulation 2(1)(r) of the securities and exchange board of india (public offer and listing of securitised debt instruments) regulations, 2008 Securitization means- acquisition of debt or receivables by any special purpose distinct entity from any originator or originators for the purpose of issuance of securitised debt instruments to investors based on such debt or receivables and such issuance; Substituted by the SEBI (Public Offer and Listing of Securitised Debt Instruments) (Amendment) Regulations, 2018 w.e.f. June 26, 2018. Prior to its substitution, the regulation read as under: Securities and Exchange Board of India (Public Offer and Listing of Securitised Debt Instruments) Regulations, 2008.
