Implementation of Body Worn Cameras for Boarding Officers - CBEC's Customs Manual 2025 - CustomsExtract 14. Implementation of Body Worn Cameras for Boarding Officers: 14.1 To enhance transparency, accountability, and professionalism during the boarding of vessels , CBIC mandated the use of boarding jackets equipped with Body Worn Cameras (BWC) for Customs Boarding Officers, effective from April 15, 2023. The BWCs, which are stand-alone devices without Wi-Fi or SIM functionality, are to be worn by officers during their duties on board vessels. The cameras will record interactions and verification processes, providing evidence in case of any offenses or suspected offenses. The recorded data is to be securely stored and reviewed by supervisory officers on a regular basis. This measure underscores the commitment to maintaining the integrity of customs operations and protecting officers from frivolous complaints. [Refer Circular No. 7/2023 Customs dated 07.03.2023]
