Central Excise (Second Amendment) Rules, 1992

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :-

1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Second Amendment) Rules, 1992.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in rule 2, -

 (a) in clause (ii), in sub-clause (A), in terms (h), for the word "Kaira", the words and brackets "Kheda (excluding Anand, Petlad and Borsad Talukas" shall be substituted;

 (b) In clause (ii), in sub-clause (A), for item (i), the following items shall be substituted, namely :-

"(i) in the districts of Surat, Bulsar and Dangs of the State of Gujarat, in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and in the Territory of Daman of the Union Territory of Daman and Diu, the Collector of Central Excise, Surat;

(ia) in the districts of Panchmahal, Vadodara and Bharuch and in area comprising of Anand, Petlad and Borsad Talukas of Kheda district, in the State of Gujarat, the Collector of Central Excise, Vadodara;";

(c) in clause (iia), for sub-clause (a), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely :-

 "(a) (i) the Collector of Central Excise, Ahmedabad;

(ii) the Collector of Central Excise, Vadodara;

(iii) the Collector of Central Excise, Rajkot;

(iv) the Collector of Central Excise, Surat;

 the Collector of Central Excise (Appeals), Ahmedabad.";

(d) in clause (viiia), for sub-clause (G), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely :-

"(G) (1) Collector of Central Excise, Ahmedabad;

(2) Collector of Central Excise, Indore;

(3) Collector of Central Excise, Raipur;

(4) Collector of Central Excise, Rajkot;

(5) Collector of Central Excise, Vadodara;

(6) Collector of Central Excise, Surat;

  the Principal Collector of Central Excise, Vadodara.".
