Central excise (Eighth Amendment) Rules, 1990

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :-

1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (Eighth Amendment) Rules, 1990.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In sub-rule (1) of rule 57A of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in the Explanation, in clause (b), -

(a) in sub-clause (iv), the word "or" occurring at the end, shall be omitted;

(b) in sub-clause (v), for the word "chests.", the words "chests; or" shall be substituted;

(c) after sub-clause (v), the following sub-clause shall be inserted, namely ;-

(vi) bags or sacks made out of fabric (whether or not coated, covered or laminated with any other material) woven from strips or tapes of plastics."
