Central Excise (10th Amendment) Rules, 1989

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :-

1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (10th Amendment) Rules, 1989.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In Rule 185 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 to sub-rule (1), the following proviso shall be added, namely :-

 "Provided that the Central Government may, if it is of the opinion that having regard to the nature of the goods it is necessary so to do, it may, by order, for reasons to be recorded in writing, exempt from the requirement as to marking of owners' name on such cases or packages."
