Gold - Import of Under Export Promotion and Replenishment Scheme Notification No. 273/92-Cus. Dated 16-9-1992 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 164/78-Customs, dated the 21st August, 1978, the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts gold, falling under heading No. 71.08 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), when imported into India by or on behalf of the State Bank of India, constituted under the State Bank of India Act, 1955 (23 of 1955) or the Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation Limited, for supply under the Gold and Silver jewellery and articles Export Promotion and Replenishment Scheme specified in paragraph 88 of the Export and Import Policy, 1 April, 1992 - 31 March, 1997 of the Government of India in the Ministry of Commerce, from the whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule and from the whole of the additional duty leviable thereon under section 3 of the said Customs Tariff Act.
