Exemption to Telecommunication and Photographic Equipments falling within Chapter 85 or 90 - 235/90 - Customs -TariffExtract Exemption to Telecommunication and Photographic Equipments falling within Chapter 85 or 90 Notification No. 235/90-Cus. Dated 23-8-1990 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts telecommunication and photographic equipments falling within Chapter 85 or 90 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975) when imported into India, from - (a) so much of that portion of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of 25 per cent ad valorem; and (b) the whole of the additional duty leviable thereon under section 3 of the said Customs Tariff Act; Subject to the condition, that the importer produces to the Assistant Collector of Customs at the time and place of importation, - (i) a certificate issued by an officer not lower in rank than an Under Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to the effect that the importer is an accredited news agency; and (ii) an undertaking to the effect that the said goods shall remain in possession, control and use of the agency and shall not be sold or parted with for a period of 5 years from the date of importation.
