Amends certain notifications so as to, - (i) prescribe effective rates of basic duty on polyurethane films and foils; (ii) withdraw the exemption from countervailing duty in respect of PTEE tapes; (iii) prescribe effective rates of basic duty on impregnating and falling compounds; and (iv) prescribe - 050/90 - Customs -Tariff

Amends certain notifications so as to, - (i) prescribe effective rates of basic duty on polyurethane films and foils; (ii) withdraw the exemption from countervailing duty in respect of PTEE tapes; (iii) prescribe effective rates of basic duty on impregnating and falling compounds; and (iv) prescribe effective rates of basic duty on polyacetals, polyphenylene oxide and polycarbonates. Dated 20-3-1990 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be further amended in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table. In the said notification, for the figure and words "40% ad valorem " the figure and words "35% ad valorem " shall be substituted. 2. 270/86-Customs, dated the 28th April, 1986. In the said notification in the opening paragraph, for the words starting with "from:-" and ending with the words "the mentioned Act;", the words and figure "from so much of that portion of the duty of .customs leviable thereon, which is specified in the said First Schedule, as is in excess of 70% ad valorem ;" shall be substituted. 3. 169/88-Customs, dated the 13th May, 1988. In the said notification in the opening paragraph, in clause (a), for the words and figures "40 per cent ad valorem ", the words and figure "35 per cent ad valorem " shall be substituted. 4. 48/89-Customs, dated the 1st March, 1989. In the said notification in S. Nos. 1, 2 and 3, in column (3), for the entry, the entry "35% ad valorem" shall be substituted.
