Amendment to 7 Notifications - 108/86 - Customs -TariffExtract Amendment to 7 Notifications Notification No. 108/86-Cus. Dated 17-2-1986 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance in the Department of Revenue, or in the Department of Revenue and Banking specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in column (3) of the said Table. THE TABLE Sl. No. Notification No. and date Amendment (1) (2) (3) 1. (i) 157-Cus., dated the 2nd August, 1976. In the said notifications, the following Explanation shall be added at the end, namely :- (ii) 160-Cus., dated the 2nd August, 1976. (iii) 22-Cus., dated the 7th February, February, 1977. "Explanation. - In this notification, "furnace oil" means any hydrocarbon oil which is ordinarily used as furnace fuel and not suitable for use in spark ignition engines and which satisfies the following requirements : (iv) 257-Cus., dated the 16th December, 1977 (i) has its flash point at or above 66 o centigrade, (ii) has a smoke point of less than 10 millimetres, (iii) leaves carbon residue of not less than ¼ per cent by weight when tested by Ramsbottom Carbon Residue Apparatus, (iv) is as dark as, or darker than, 0.04 normal Iodine solution when tested by colour comparison test, and (v) possesses a viscosity of 100 seconds or more by Redwood I Viscometer at 37.8° centigrade". 2. 161-Cus., dated the 2nd August, 1976. In the said notification the following Explanation shall be added at the end, namely :- "Explanation. - In this notification, "lubricating oil" means any oil as is ordinarily used for lubrication, excluding any hydrocarbon oil which has its flash point below 93.3° centigrade". 3. 211-Cus., dated the 15th October, 1977. To Table to the said notification, following Explanation shall be added, namely :- "Explanation. - For the purpose of this notification, (i) "sheets of ferrous metal" means rolled products (other than coiled semi-finished hot-rolled products, of a rectangular section, not less than 1.5 millimetres thick, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres and of a weight of not less than 500 kilograms per piece) of any thickness and, if in rectangles, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres; (ii) "strips of ferrous metal" means rolled products with sheared or unsheared edges, of rectangular section, of a thickness not exceeding 6 millimetres, of width not exceeding 500 millimetres and of such dimensions that the thickness does not exceed one-tenth of the width, in straight strips, coils or flattened coils." 4. 142-Cus., dated the 16th May, 1981. In the Schedule to the said notification, the following Explanation shall be added, namely :- "Explanation. - For the purpose of this notification, "sheets" or "plates" means rolled products (other than coiled semi-finished hot rolled products, of a rectangular section, not less than 1.5 millimetre thick, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres and a weight not less than 500 kilograms per piece) of any thickness and, if in rectangles, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres." 5. 150-Cus., dated the 25th May, 1981. In the said notification, (i) for the words and figures "under sub-heading No. (2) of Heading No. 73.15", the words and figures "within Chapter 72" shall be substituted; (ii) for the Explanation, the following Explanation shall be substituted, namely :- (a) "B.G." means Brimingham Gauge which is used for measuring thickness; (b) "plates" and "sheets" means rolled products (other than coiled semi-finished hot-rolled products, of rectangular section, not less than 1.5 millimetres thick, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres and of a weight of not less than 500 kilograms per piece) of any thickness, and if in rectangles, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres"; (c) "strip" means rolled products with sheared or unsheared edges, of rectangular section, of a thickness not exceeding 6 millimetres of a width not exceeding 500 millimetres and of such dimensions that the thickness does not exceed one-tenth of the width, in straight strips, coils or flattened coils". 6. 108-Cus., dated the 5th April, 1982. 104-Cus., dated the 15th April, 1983. 107-Cus., dated the 12th April, 1984. 126-Cus., dated the 12th April, 1985. In the Schedule to the said notifications the following Explanation shall be added, namely :- "Explanation. - For the purpose of this notification, - (i) "high carbon steel" means steel containing, by weight not less than 0.6 per cent of carbon and having a content, by weight, less than 0.04 per cent of phosphorus and sulphur taken separately and less than 0.07 per cent of these elements taken together; (ii) "sheets" or "plates" means rolled products (other than coiled semi-finished hot-rolled products, of a rectangular section, not less than 1.5 millimetres thick, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres and a weight of not less than 500 kilograms per piece) of any thickness and, if in rectangles, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres; (iii) "strips" means rolled products with sheared or un-sheared edges, of rectangular section, of a thickness not exceeding 6 millimetres, of width not exceeding 500 millimetres and of such dimensions that the thickness does not exceed one-tenth of the width, in straight strips, coils of flattened coils." 7. 306-Cus., dated the 1st October, 1985. To paragraph 1 of the said notification, the following Explanation shall be added, namely :- "Explanation. - For the purpose of this notification, "steel plate" means rolled products (coiled semi-finished hot-rolled products, of rectangular section, not less than 1.5 millimetres thick of a width exceeding 500 millimetres and of a weight of not less than 500 kilograms per piece) of any thickness and, if in rectangles, of a width exceeding 500 millimetres." 2. This notification shall come into force on the 28th day of February, 1986.
