Central Excise Commissioner, Mangalore's Jurisdiction Changed  

Notification No. 59/99-CE(NT)   Dated 10th December, 1999

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely:-

1. (1) The rules may be called the Central Excise (Twenty-first Amendment) Rules, 1999.

(2) They shall come into force on 1st January 2000.

2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944, in rule 2. -

(a) in clause (4),-

(i) in item (xxiii), the words ""Dakshina Kannada"" and ""Kodagu"", shall be omitted;

(ii) after item (xxiv), the following item shall be inserted, namely:-

""(xxiva) in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu of the state of the State of Karnataka, the Commissioner of Central Excise, Mangalore;"";

(b) in clause (5), in item (iii), after sub-item (d), the following shall be inserted, namely;

""(e) Commissioner of Central Excise, Mangalore;"";

(c) in clause (6), in item (viii), after sub-item (f), the following shall be inserted, namely;-

""(g) Commissioner of Central Excise, Mangalore;"";
