Details of production and dispatch of cement in the Country, as per the cess records available in this Department, in the Country, both in public and private Sector for the last three years and the current year are given below Figures in Million tons
The total installed capacity of Cement Plants in India is 360 Million Tons per annum. At present, the Cement Industry is not operating at optimum capacity due to sluggish demand. As against the present installed capacity of 360 Million tons per annum, the total production during 2014-15 was only 270.93 Million Tons per annum. Thus, there is ample scope to meet future requirement. This information was given by the Minister of State(Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in a written reply in Lok Sabha today. |
