Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Finance 06-April-2011 19:40 IST Six Laning of Ahmedabad - Vadodara Section of National Highway NH-8 in Gujarat The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the development of six laning of 102.3 Km. long Ahmedabad - Vadodara section on National Highway NH-8 in the State of Gujarat under NHDP Phase V on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis in BOT (Toll) mode of delivery. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 2537.76 crore under DBFOT pattern. The concession period is 25 years including construction period of 36 months. The project is covered in the Districts of Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand and Vadodara in the State of Gujarat. The main objective of the project is improvement of infrastructure in the State of Gujarat. The Ahmedabad - Vadodara section is an important corridor of Golden Quadrilateral (GQ) which links two major cities of Gujarat leading to Mumbai and other parts of the country. It will also increase the employment potential for the local labourers. Background : The Cabinet has approved six-laning of 6500 kms of four-laned National Highways comprising 5700 kms of Golden Quadrilateral (GQ) and 800 kms of other sections at a cost of Rs.41,210 crores under NHDP Phase V in October, 2006.. The project of Ahmedabad - Vadodara is one of the approved stretches under NHDP Phase V.
