Iran's parliament fires minister of economy over plummeting rial, mismanagement

Tehran, Mar 2 (AP) Iran's parliament voted Sunday to fire the country's economy minister over the plummeting rial and economic mismanagement.

Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said 182 out of 273 lawmakers voted against Abdolnasser Hemmati. The chamber has 290 seats.

The dismissal took place just six months after Massoud Pezeshkian's cabinet took office. (AP) ZH ZH
