Agartala, Mar 21 (PTI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday declared a three per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees with effect from April this year.

With this three per cent hike in DA, Tripura government employees will receive 33 per cent DA.

"I declare release of 3 per cent DA to government employees and pensioners with effect from April 1, 2025. With this, the state government employees DA will increase from 30 per cent to 33 per cent. For this, the government needs to bear an additional financial burden of Rs 300 crore annually," the chief minister said in the Assembly.

The government wants to reduce the gap in DA between the state government employees and Central government employees, he said, adding it will be done gradually.

Tripura has 1,04,683 regular employees and 80,855 pensioners.

Hailing the state budget for the 2025-26 financial year presented by Finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy, the CM said the budget aims at laying the foundation stone for 'vikshit Tripura'.

"The budget lays emphasis on building infrastructure, good governance, skill development, utilisation of IT and long-term growth and ease of doing business," Saha said in a post on social media. PTI PS RG
