Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Commerce & Industry 05-December-2012 16:07 IST The Government’s policy on export of agriculture produce depends upon various factors including stocks of agriculture products available in the country, surplus over and above the buffer stock norm and strategic reserve requirements, if any, concerns of food security, availability of agriculture products to common man at reasonable prices and remunerative returns to the grower and price competitiveness in the international market etc. The export of fruit and vegetables including their processed items increased from Rs.6,638 crore in 2010-11 to Rs.8,241 crore in 2011-12 as per details below: Value: Rs crore
Source: APEDA Effect of growth in export of fruits and vegetables on the Indian market does not seem to be visible as the share of export of fruits and vegetables were only 0.55% and 1.24% respectively of their total production in 2010-11. This information was given by the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Dr. D. Purandeswari in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today. ****** DS |
