Notice of demand., Income Tax

Sir,

I am a Govt. employee also. My employer deduct tax every month w.e.f. April  to March and deposit with govt.. After I filed my e-return the IT deptt. pointed  out short payment of Rs.12000/- . On checking my 2AS form I came to know that my employer has short deposited Rs. 12000/-with the govt. I immediately brought the fact  to the notice of my employer in writing  and also submitted copy to IT Bangalore. My employer to this day also did not take care to get the balance amount deposited to govt.it is now 5 months today. I presume that this is the liability of my department and i need not fear of offending IT laws and will not be penalised.Please advice what more should I do.Regards.Pradip
