In terms of Section 206AA of Income Tax Act, 1961 206(5) effective from 01/04/10 as under: The deductee shall furnish his Permanent Account Number to the deductor and both shall indicate the same in all the correspondence, bills, vouchers and other documents which are sent to each other. In view of the above provision whether it is compulsory to quote the PAN Nos in all correspondence like vouchers , bills since earlier this wording was not mentioned now whether this is compulsory to quote the above Posts / Replies Showing Replies 1 to 2 of 2 Records Page: 1
Yes, it is mandatory to quote PAN in all refered documents.
In view of changing times, it seems that mentioning PAN as part of identity of person on all letter heads, and other documents intended for business or commercial use is desirable.
There should not be any problem in quoting PAN.
PAN no. can be made a part of own address as well as address slips to whom communication is sent and even in mailing lists.
This will increase confidence of the GOI officials.

There is no harm in quoting PAN, it will avoid contingencies of penalty proceedings.
