IS IT COMPULSORY TO REGISTER A WAREHOUSE FOR MERCHANT EXPORTER. CAN A MANUFACTURER REGISTER A WAREHOUSE AS A MERCHANT EXPORTER IN HIS OWN MANUFACTURING COMPOUND. PL ADVICE.

Yes, you can obtain a separate registration certificate for trading, even if such warehouse is located at within the boundary of factory premises. Earlier restriction under erstwhile Rule 51A has been removed. You may approach to AC/DC/Commissioner for the same.
