GOVINDARAJAN - Service Tax - Dated:- 16-7-2009 - - INTRODUCTION: Section 93 of the Finance Act, 1994 ('Act' for short) empowers the Central Government to exempt any service or part of service from service tax by issuing notification or by making a special order if the circumstances so warrant. The Central Government is issuing exemption notifications from time to time. Every notification issued under Section 93 is to be placed before each House of Parliament while it is in session(s) for a minimum period of 30 days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions. CLUB OR ASSOCIATION: Section 65 (105) (zzze) of the Act defines the taxable service rendered by club or association in relation to provision of service facilities or advantages for a subscription or any other amount.
