The annual rate of inflation, calculated on point to point basis, stood at 13.04 percent (Provisional) for the week ended 03/09/2011 (over 04/09/2010) as compared to 13.34 percent (Provisional) for the previous week (ended 27/08/2011). The groups and items for which the index showed variations during the week are as follows:- The index for 'Food Articles' group rose by 0.2 percent to 195.4 (Provisional) from 195.1 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of milk, gram, arhar and fruits vegetables (1% each). However, the prices of moong, urad, fish-inland and tea (2% each) and jowar, wheat, poultry chicken and egg (1% each) declined. The index for 'Non-Food Articl .....

..... es' group rose by 1.0 percent to 185.2 (Provisional) from 183.3 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of logs timber (32%), flowers (11%), raw rubber (5%), linseed (3%), rape mustard seed (2%) and raw jute (1%). However, the prices of raw silk, fodder and gingelly seed (3% each), copra (coconut) (2%) and sunflower (1%) declined. FUEL POWER (Weight 14.91%) The index for this major group remained unchanged at its previous week's level of 166.8 (Provisional). The items for which the index showed variations are lubricants (+5%), bitumen (+3%). Naphtha, aviation turbine fuel and lpg (-1% each).
