The Eight core industries have a combined weight of 37.90 per cent in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). The combined Index was 139.5 in September 2012 with a growth rate of 5.1% compared to their 2.5% growth in September 2011. The modest growth in September, 2012 was on account of double digit growth witnessed in the production of Coal, Petroleum Refinery Products and Cement. During April-September 2012- ..... In cumulative terms also Coal production recorded a growth of 8.3% during April-September 2012-13 compared to its negative growth at (-) 4.8% during the same period of 2011-12. Crude Oil 4. Crude Oil production (weight: 5.22%) had a negative growth of (-) 1.7% in September 2012 compared to its 0.1% growth in September 2011.
