The 116th meeting of the Board of Approval (BoA) for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) was held on 5th September 2023 under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Department of Commerce, at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. Key decisions included ratification of the 115th meeting minutes, extension of Letters of Approval (LoA) for two units, approval of co-developer status for six proposals, and approval of additional areas for two co-developers. Requests for full de-notification of SEZs, import of materials, and clarifications on existing instructions were also discussed. Appeals on various issues were heard, leading to approvals and deferrals. Additionally, a new SEZ proposal was approved.
