1999 (4) TMI 599 - SC - Customs

The Supreme Court quashed a detention order due to undue delay in passing it. The detenu was found smuggling gold, but the order was passed 11 months later without a genuine reason for the delay. The State Government's explanation was deemed unsatisfactory. The detenu was ordered to be released immediately.
