2022 (12) TMI 1443 - SCH - Money Laundering

Issues Involved: Bail application, ongoing investigation, expediting investigation process

Bail Application:
The Supreme Court, comprising of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant and Hon'ble Mr. Justice J.K. Maheshwari, heard the arguments of the petitioner's Senior Counsel and the Additional Solicitor General representing the respondent. The Court decided not to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage to avoid interfering with the ongoing investigation process.

Ongoing Investigation:
The Court directed that once the investigation is completed, the petitioner can approach the Trial Court for bail. The Trial Court will independently consider the bail petition on its merit without being influenced by any previous orders from the High Court or the Supreme Court.

Expediting Investigation Process:
Furthermore, the respondent was instructed by the Court to expedite the ongoing investigation and strive to conclude it within a period of three months. The Special Leave Petition was disposed of with these directives, leading to the disposal of any pending interlocutory applications as well.
