Regulation 39 - Sick leave - Securities And Exchange Board Of India (Employees' Service) Regulations, 2001Extract Sick leave 39. (1) Every employee shall be entitled to sick leave, on production of medical certificate, at the rate of 20 days for every calendar year of service subject to a maximum of 540 days during the full period of his service. Additional sick leave may be granted if it is considered necessary and advisable in the interest of the Board. Provided further that in the case of an employee, the production of a medical certificate may not be insisted upon if sick leave to be granted does not exceed three days. (2) Sick leave shall be on half pay. Provided that where an employee has served the Board for at least a period of three years, he may, if he so requests, be permitted to avail, during the full period of his service, sick leave on leave pay upto a maximum period of nine months and such leave on leave pay shall be entered in his sick leave account as twice the amount of leave taken by him. (3) An employee may be granted sick leave during the first year of his service on pro- rata basis at the discretion of the Competent Authority.
