Article 1 - Short title and commencement - Constitution (42nd Amendment) Act, 1976

THE CONSTITUTION (FORTY-SECOND AMENDMENT) ACT, 1976 [18th December, 1976.] An Act further to amend the Constitution of India. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title and commencement . (1) This Act may be called the Constitution (Forty-second Amendment) Act, 1976. (2) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act. ****************** NOTES:- 1 . Shall come into force, w.e.f. 3rd day of January 1977 vide G.S.R. 2(E), dated 3-1-1977.
