71. Amendment of section 23. In section 23 of the Wealth-tax Act [as amended by section 146 of the Direct Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 1987 (4 of 1988)],- (i) in sub-section (1), in clause (d), the words, figures and letters as it stood immediately before the 1st day of April, 1989 or under section 18 as amended by the Direct Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 1987 (4 of 1988) occurring at the end shall be omitted; (ii) in sub-section (1A), for clause (b), the following clause shall be substituted, namely :- (b) objecting to any penalty imposed under sub-section (1) of section 18 with the previous approval of the Deputy Commissioner as specified in sub-section (3) of that section; .
