Article 30 - Termination - Syria (Old - Effective upto 31-3-2009)

Article 30 : Termination This Agreement shall continue in effect indefinitely but either of the Contracting States may, on or before the thirtieth day of June in any calendar year beginning after the expiration of a period of five years from the date of its entry into force, give the other Contracting State through diplomatic channels, written notice of termination and, in such event, this Agreement shall cease to be effective : (a) in India, in respect of income assessable for the assessment year commencing on the 1st day of April in the second calendar year next following the calendar year in which the notice is given, and subsequent years; (b) in Syria, in respect of income assessable for any assessment year commencing on the 1st day of January in the second calendar year next following the calendar year in which the notice is given, and subsequent years. IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned, being duly authorised thereto, have signed the present Agreement. Done on this sixth day of February one thousand nine hundred and eighty-four in New Delhi on two original copies each in the Arabic, Hindi and English languages, all the texts being equally authentic.
