Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 An Act to regulate the acceptance and utilisation of foreign contribution or foreign hospitality by certain persons or associations, with a view to ensuring that parliamentary institutions, political associations and academic and other voluntary organisations as well as individuals working in the important areas of national life may function in a manner consistent with the values of a sovereign democratic republic, and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- <?xml:namespace prefix = st2 /> CHAPTER- I. PRELIMINARY 1 . Short title, extent, application and commencement .- (1) This Act may be called the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976. (2) It extends to the whole of India, and it shall also apply to-- (a) citizens of India outside India; and (b) associates, branches or subsidiaries, outside India, of companies or bodies corporate, registered or incorporated in India.
