Service Tax — Creation of Cell for Service Tax work outside the Commissionerate Hqrs. - Service Tax - Trade Notice No. 16/98 - Jamshedpur

Attention of the trade and all concerned is invited to the Trade Notice No. 40/97, dated 27-8-1997 of this Commissionerate. In order to facilitate the Trade in filing their applications for registration, returns etc. and also for achieving a better administrative arrangement for collection of service tax it has been decided to delegate the power of Asstt. Commissioner (Service Tax) to Asstt. Commissioner, Central Excise, Jamshedpur, Division I and Asstt. Commissioner, Central Excise Division, Jamshedpur-II for all the service tax registrants who have their offices in the jurisdictional area of respective Central Excise divisions. Accordingly the service tax cell in the Central Excise Hqrs. situated at 143, New Baradwari, Ranchi is hereby abolished w.e.f. 12-6-1998. In partial modification of Trade Notice No. 40/97, dated 27-8-1997, the names of Asstt. Commissioner (Service Tax) and their jurisdiction within the Commissionerate of Central Excise, Jamshedpur will be in the manner given in the Table below : Sl. No. Name of the Asstt. The new cells in the divisional offices would be working directly under the Supervision of Asstt. Commissioner Central Excise Division, who would also be working as Asstt. Commissioner (Service Tax) in addition to the Work already allotted to him. The concerned Asstt. Commissioner, Central Excise Division may utilise the Services from the existing staff and allocate the work relating to Service Tax to the Supdt./Inspector/Ministerial staff posted under him for proper and effective handling of the said work. All work relating to registrations, assessments etc. of service tax on all services would be handled by them.
