No. S/6-91/2007-Admn. Dated 19.01.2011 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 02/2011 SUB:- Quality of information furnished in Bills of Entry/Shipping Bills reg. Attention of all the Custom House Agents BCHAA is invited to Public Notices No. 42/2010 dated 07.04.10, No 124/10 dt 07.12.10 and No. 127/10 dt 15.12.10 all issued by Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House, Nhava Sheva emphasizing the need for better data quality in Bills of Entry Shipping Bills. Interactive sessions were conducted on 20.4.10, 21.04.10, 20.12.10, 22.12.10, 27.12.10 6.01.11 for educating the Custom House Agents and members of the trade to appraise them the need for good data quality and legal requirements thereof. It was clearly mentioned in PN Nos 124 127 of 2010 that attendance of CHAs at the interactive sessions is compulsory and failure to attend will lead to temporary suspension of their licence till they complete the learning process. Inspite of this it is noticed that several CHAs have not bothered to depute any representative for the sessions. This is a flagrant contravention of the instructions and is being viewed very seriously. Another interactive session for imparting information on good data quality to be conducted by officials from JNCH will be held at 3.00 pm on 11.02.2011 in the Club Hall, Ground floor, New Custom House, Mumbai. All Custom House Agents who have not attended any of the earlier sessions are directed to depute at least one G card holder to attend this session for learning and assuring correct legal compliance on the subject. The active support of BCHAA is solicited in the matter to ensure the attendance of all the CHA s who have not been represented in the earlier sessions. BCHAA is requested to ensure wide publicity to this Public Notice by disseminating the information among their members, publishing it on their newsletter, uploading the PN on their website and also prevailing upon their members to compulsorily attend the session. The CHA s are informed that failure to attend this session will result in Warning Memoranda being issued to the CHAs which will be endorsed in their original CHA Licence. This entry in the Licence would also be viewed adversely while issuing passes to CHAs or their employees as well as during renewal of the CHA Licence. All the CHA firms are again informed to be present for the session without fail. This issues with the approval of the Commissioner of Customs (General). Sd/- (19.01.2011) (S. P.
