It has come to the notice of this Department that some unscrupulous elements are contacting Indian Nationals through phone, e-mails and SMS and informing them that they have won handsome amount of money in Foreign exchange as a Lottery Prize, and that they are required to pay certain amount towards Customs clearance charges/other expenses. These elements are giving their contact No. and bank Account no. for remittance of these charges. It is informed in the public interest tat the Customs Department has nothing to do with such matters. The public is hereby alerted / warned not to pay any such charge in the name of Customs and if somebody demands payment a report to that effect may be filed with the Police Authorities, if deemed fit by the person concerned.
