Movement of customs cleared Export containers from JNPT to Mundra/Pipavav port - reg. - Customs - 80/2010Extract OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (EXPORTS) JAWAHARLAL NEHRU CUSTOM HOUSE, NHAVA SHEVA TAL-URAN, DIST-RAIGAD, MAHARASHTRA-400707 F.No.S/12-Gen-42/2010-11 AM(X) Date:- 12.08.2010 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 80/2010 Sub :- Movement of customs cleared Export containers from JNPT to Mundra/Pipavav port - reg. 1. Subsequent to the temporary closure of JNPT Port due to collision of two vessels, representation have been received from the Trade to ease the congestion at the port by permitting them to move the customs cleared export containers from JNPT to Mundra/Pipavav port. 2. The matter has been examined and it has been decided to temporarily allow the movement of customs cleared export containers lying in the port premises/CFSs by rail to the ports of Mundra/Pipavav for export therefrom. The procedure for such movement will be similar to that being followed for movement of export cargo from the ICDs to gateway ports. Thus, under the proposed facility, all the documentation relating to customs clearance of export goods and examination etc. will take place at the originating port. After clearance, cargo will be stuffed and sealed in containers in the presence of Customs. The drawback and other import incentives are to be paid/credited at the originating port. The documentation for movement of cargo from one port to another by rail will be same as is being undertaken in case of movement of cargo from ICDs/CFSs to gateway ports subject to the following modifications in the procedure due to the present extraordinary situation. a) A photocopy of the Shipping Bill which shall be authenticated by the Customs staff in the CFS/Boarding office shall be treated as the transference copy to be forwarded to the port of Export alongwith the original Shipping Bill. b) The rail operators shall be permitted to carry out the movement of the Containers under the same Bond earlier executed with the Import Department. c) The rail operators who wish to undertake the movement of Containers shall give undertaking to Customs that they shall accept responsibility for shortage in the goods during transit and will be required to pay the amount equal to the Drawback/duty amount and other benefits availed by the exporters. 3. This special arrangement shall remain in force till the functioning of the JNPT port returns to normal. 4. The contents of the Public Notice may be communicated to all the members of the Trade through their respective associations. 5.
