Date:1/07/09 PUBLIC NOTICE No. 29/2009 Sub: Permission for entry of vehicles in Frere Basin Yard (MBPT) on ARE-1 and Export Challan. In order to facilitate export of Motor Vehicles arriving from upcountry factories into Mumbai Port area for export, the following procedure is prescribed: 1. The persons in charge of the conveyances carrying the vehicles would report to the Customs Officer in charge of the earmarked area. The Customs Officer shall peruse the documents certifying clearance of such vehicles from the factory of manufacture such as Excise attested Invoices, A.R.-4 Forms, Central Excise gate passes etc. On being satisfied that the number and description of the vehicles tallies with the description on the documents he shall permit the conveyances to enter the earmarked area. 2. The vehicles shall be unloaded and stored in an area specifically demarcated by the Mumbai Port Authorities. 3. The filing of the Shipping Bills for export and its assessment will be as per the existing procedures. 4. On examination if the proper officer is satisfied that the shipment is in order, he shall give the Let Export Order. 5. The Port Authority and the person in charge of the conveyance shall not allow the loading of vehicle unless the vehicles are cleared for loadings as per Section 51 of the Customs Act, 1962. 6. Where mandatory spares are being exported alongwith the vehicles the relevant provisions of the paragraphs above would apply. 7. The Exporters, Custom House Agents, Shipping Agents and others concerned may note that the services of Customs Officer shall be available only during the Customs working hours and on Sunday and Holiday would be available only on payment of overtime charges. The application for overtime charges and the payment of fees should be done sufficiently in advance. 8.
