Export of iron ore through New Mangalore-waiver of P.D./Test bond-regarding - Customs - 16/2009Extract OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS NEW CUSTOM HOUSE: PANAMBUR: MANGALORE-10 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 16/2009 Date: 06.05.2009 Sub: Export of iron ore through New Mangalore-waiver of P.D./Test bond-regarding Representations have been received from the trade that with the removal of export duty on iron ore fines the present practice of taking provisional duty bonds for each export Shipment of iron Ore fines should be dispensed with. Export duty on iron ore fines has been, exempted vide Notification No. 129/2008 - Cus dated 07.12.08. However, iron ore fines would still require to be tested to determine that Fe content is not higher than 64 % as in that case exports are restricted through MMTC. Since there is no export duty, the practice of provisional assessment and taking of PD bonds is henceforth discontinued. Export shipments of iron ore fines would, however, continue to be tested to ensure compliance-with export policy requirements. Exporters would have to give an undertaking that in case Fe content is found to be above 64 % they would be liable to penal action. Shipments of iron ore pellets by Miss Kudramukh Iron Ore Company Ltd., as well as all shipments of iron ore Iumps should continue to be subjected to testing for determining moisture content. (R.S.
