Additional facility for storage of import containers at the Buffer yard of M/s IGTPL - procedure – reg. - Customs - 12/2008Extract OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS CUSTOM HOUSE, COCHIN 9 Public Notice No. 12/2008 Dated 18.03.2008 Sub: Additional facility for storage of import containers at the Buffer yard of M/s IGTPL - procedure reg. It is brought to notice that existing facilities for stocking of import containers is not adequate to handle the volume, in view of the trends in increase in cargo traffic. Accordingly a buffer container yard is notified in terms of Notification No. 04/2008 dated 18.02.08 of this Custom House as additional facility for storage of import load containers in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VIII of Customs Act, 1962. M/s India Gatewary Terminal Pvt. Ltd., is appointed as custodian for those containers, in terms of Notification No. 05/2008 dated 18.02.08. For smooth movement of cargo, procedures as below shall be followed. 1. Movement of the import containers from Docks to the new (Buffer) container yard shall be strictly under Customs Preventive supervision and escort. 2. The yard will be operational only during office hours in day time, i.e from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM on all days from Monday to Friday. 3. Whenever Customs escort postings are required, M/s. IGTPL shall approach Customs well in advance for postings. Such requests shall be normally not entertained after office hours and on holidays unless in exigencies. 4. Necessary registers shall be maintained both at Container Cell at Docks (indicating all details including exit time, seal No. etc.) and at the buffer container yard (indicating details including time of entry) to the yard. 5. Clearance from the Buffer Yard shall be only under supervision of Customs Prev. Officer there, who shall ensure that all Customs formalities prior to clearance are completed. 6. Prev. Officer posted at the Buffer Yard shall ensure that there is no tampering or other abnormalities. If any such cases are noticed, matter shall be immediately brought to the notice of AC/DC (Docks) and AC/DC (Prev.) 7. As and when the containers are taken delivery, necessary details may be entered in the register and thereafter the entry shall be closed. All other formalities for clearance of import containers shall be followed as per existing instructions. Difficulties, if any, shall be brought to the notice of undersigned.
