In partial modification of instructions in public Notice No. 10/98 dtd. 04.0.1998, it is notified for information of importers, Custom House Agents and other concerned that henceforth, waste oil/sludge which is derived from the normal course of ships operation and which is covered by the MARPOL 1973-78. Protocol (convention) is permitted to discharge without a licence and on payment of Customs duty. Permission of discharge waste oil/sludge is allowed only to those persons who are registered with Ministry of Environment and Forest and have reprocessing facilities approve by State Pollution Controls Board.
