Dated : 21 st April 2017 TRADE NOTICE NO. 01/2018 Trade is hereby informed that negotiations to enter into a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union consisting of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia) are likely to commence during this year. 2. In this regard, Department of Commerce (DOC), Government of India is planning to conduct a stakeholder's consultation in collaboration with Department of Industries, Government of Maharashtra, at Mumbai. DOC is interested in identifying India's interest in trading with the EAEU region, and the benefits/challenges the said FTA can generate for firms located in Maharashtra. 3. As these consultations go a long way in formulating India's negotiation strategy, the firms who may be affected by entering into FTA with EAEU may study the opportunities and prepare their views. The interested firms may have offensive interest (i.e. gaining market access into EAEU) or defensive (i.e. to protect from imports into India from EAEU which might hurt). 4. As per preliminary statistical analysis of our exports to EAEU region, following sectors are likely to get impacted due to India-EAEU FTA: a) Agricultural products (especially Fish products, coffee, oil cakes etc.) b) Pharmaceuticals ( Chapter 30 ) c) Plastic products ( Chapter 39 ) d) Textiles - Redymade garments (especially Chapter 61 - 63 ) e) Engineering (Chapter 72 - 73 ) f) Machinery and Automobiles (especially Chapter 84 and 87 ) 5. The members of Trade and concerned EPCs are requested to prepare their views/ inputs/analysis, so that these can he discussed during the meeting with the State Government Officials as and when scheduled. 6.
