Amendments in the SION - DGFT - 150/2008Extract Amendments in the SION PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 150/2008, Date: 25/02/2009 In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09 and Paragraph 1.1 of the Handbook of Procedures (Vol.1), the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments/ additions/deletions/corrections in the Handbook of Procedures, Vol.2, and 2004-2009, as amended from time to time 2. In the statement of Standard Input Output Norms (SION) as contained in the Handbook of Procedures (Vol.2), 2004-2009, as amended from time to time, amendments/ corrections/ modifications at appropriate places as mentioned in ANNEXURE "A" to this Public Notice are made. Gujral) DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FOREIGN TRADE (Issued from F.No.01/80/162/540/AM09/DES-II) ANNEXURE "A" TO THE PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 150(RE-2009)/2004-2009 Date: 25.02.2009 ENGINEERING PRODUCTS AMENDMENTS/CORRECTIONS/MODIFICATION The amendment/corrections/modifications as mentioned in foot Note 6 vide Public Notice No. 50(RE-2006)2004-2009 dated 31.08.2006 annexed with SION C-525 to read as under:- SION Sl. No. C - 525 Present Description: Note 6: Import of Stainless Steel Melting Scrap of known chemical composition may be permitted within the overall quantity of item no. 1(a) but up to 60% and 90% respectively to Induction Furnace and Electric Furnace based units. In such a case, quantity of respective ferroalloy/metal to be allowed as per formula at Sl.No. 2 will have to be reduced to account for the recoverable alloying element(s) (Nickel, Copper, Chromium and Vanadium) present in the stainless steel scrap. The reduced quantity of these ferroalloys/metals shall be obtained by deducting the equivalent quantity of ferroalloy/metal to be obtained using the following formula from the total quantity to be worked out as per formula at Sl. No. 2 in the SION read with Note 3: Alloy Steel Scrap Quantity (kg) x % of relevant element in scrap ______________________________________________________ 1.115 x % of relevant element in ferroalloy/metal/compound Amended Description: Note 6: Import of Stainless Steel Melting Scrap of known chemical composition may be permitted within the overall quantity of item no. 1(a) but upto 90% to Induction Furnace units having AOD/VOD facilities and Electric Furnace units. For units having Induction Furnaces without AOD/VOD, import of stainless steel melting scrap will however, be permitted within the overall quantity of item No. 1(a) but upto 60% only. Only such grade of Stainless Steel Melting Scrap will be allowed that is relevant to the export product. In such a case, quantity of respective ferroalloy/metal to be allowed as per formula at Sl.No. 2 will have to be reduced to account for the recoverable alloying element(s) (Nickel, Copper, Chromium and Vanadium) present in the stainless steel scrap.
