F. No. S/22-Gen-04/2017-18/ AM (I)/JNCH Dated: 24.05.2018 PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 87/2018 Subject: - Discontinuation of Scanning of Import Dockets at DMS -Reg. Attention of all the Importers, Customs Brokers, other stake holders and members of the trade is invited to Facility Notice No.35/2015 dated 29.04.2015 regarding implementation of the Document Management System in JNCH. After implementation of DMS, the dockets of Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills and connected documents are being stored both in digital as well as physical/hard copy form. The objective of having a DMS was to ensure proper storage and retrieval of dockets of Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills so that in case, when original dockets are not traceable as required under provisions of Customs Act, 1962 to process Refund, DBK, Reimport, Re-export, amendments under section 149, investigations in respect of past exports/ imports. 2. Since, uploading of all documents (including supporting document submitted subsequent to filing Bill of Entry) pertaining to clearance of a Bill of Entry using e-Sanchit facility has been made mandatory by Public Notice No. 31/2018 w.e.f. 01.04.2018, it is felt that to continue with the scanning of dockets of Bills of Entry at DMS will be repetition of the same work. 3. In view of above, it has been decided to discontinue with the DMS with regard to Import Dockets. Therefore, the DMS coupons (worth ₹ 16/-) is no more required to be purchased and affixed to the Import Dockets. However, the procedure as prescribed vide Facility Notice 35/2015 dated 29.04.2015 will continue to be followed for Export Dockets till further orders. 4. Action to be taken in terms of decisions taken in this Public Notice should be considered as standing order for the purpose of officers and staff.
