No. VIII/09/01/2017-Tech(PF-I) Date: 04.05.2018 PUBLIC NOTICE No. 22/2018-Customs Subject: - Introducing New accounting codes under Major Head 0037 for the purpose of Accounting of Collecting Road Infrastructure Cess and Social Welfare Surcharge - Regarding. *** Attention of all the Importers, Exporters, Customs Brokers, Steamer Agents Custodians/Customs Cargo Service Providers, Trade Associations / Chamber of Commerce, Members of the RAC / PGC / CCFC and the public is invited to the Office Memorandum No. Coord/13-6/H/A/cs/Vol.VIII/2018-19/37 dated 19.04.2018 of Office of Principal Chief Controller of Accounts, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, New Delhi on the above subject. In the said Office Memorandum, PCCA, CBIC has inter-alia communicated certain corrections / charges made in the Major Head 0037 - CUSTOMS for remittance of Road and Infrastructure Cess and Social Welfare Surcharge under proper Head of Accounts by mentioning their eight digit code. 2. The following corrections / charges have been made in Major Head 0037- Customs and in Major Head 0038 - Union Excise Duties below Sub-Major-Head '03 - Non Shareable Duties' by office of the Controller General of Accounts vide Correction Slip No.899 dated 13.04.2018 and No.900 dated 13.04.2018 respectively. (i) New Minor Heads '507 - Road and Infrastructure Cess' and ' 508 - Social Welfare Surcharge' under Major Head 0037 - Customs have been inserted. (ii) New Minor Heads '507 - Road and Infrastructure Cess' below Sub- Major-Head '03-Non Shareable Duties' under Major Head '0038 - Union Excise Duties' have been inserted. (iii) New Sub Heads 'Cess Collection' and 'Deduct Refunds' have been inserted under above Minor Heads. Accordingly, the following Accounting Codes have been allotted by office of the Controller General of Accounts : S. All the Importers, Exporters, Customs Brokers, Steamer Agents Custodians/Customs Cargo Service Providers, Trade Associations / Chamber of Commerce, Members of the RAC / PGC / CCFC and the public are advised that appropriate eight digit reduced accounting codes (Major Head Serial Codes) as mentioned under Column No.5 above may be used for remittance of respective Road and Infrastructure Cess and Social Welfare Surcharge. 4. Action to be taken in terms of the decisions taken in this Public Notice should be considered as Standing Order for the purpose of officers and staff. 5.
