Consolidation facilities by Freight Forwarders/Steamer's Agents at common user areas Public Notice No. 40/94 Dated 31-10-1994 Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) New Delhi Subject : Consolidation facilities by Freight Forwarders/Steamer's Agents at common user areas It is brought to the notice of the Public/Exporters/CHAS/Freight Forwarders/Steamer Agents that it has been decided to allow consolidation facility by Freight Forwarders/Steamer Agents at common user areas such as Central Warehousing Corporation, Public Sector undertakings, Airlines and Private operators having impeccable record. Permission for such facility would be granted for one year which can be extended and same can be reviewed at any time. 2. The Freight Forwarders and Steamers' Agents availing this facility would bear the cost of Customs Staff required to man such places for the purpose of Customs examination and stuffing of Cargo. The common user areas where this facility would be provided should have proper infrastructural requirements such as ventilation, storage, lighting, handling equipments. Space for other public utility requirements, sufficient area for truck movement, equipments for transfer of packages/containers from godown to the trucks and vice-versa etc. 3. In view of this policy, the Freight Forwarders/Steamers' Agents willing to avail of this facility are required to make an application giving full required details to the Collector of Customs, who may extend this facility to the applicant after considering the relevant factors.
