Dated: 12-07.2019 PUBLIC NOTICE No. 49/2019 Sub: Procedure for safety and security of export cargo Avoidance of pilferage from Export warehouse in CFS ports under Chennai-IV Commissionerate- Reg. Attention of all Exporters, Customs Brokers, Members of Trade and other stakeholders is invited to the above mentioned subject. 2. It is brought to notice that numerous exporters are raising the issue of shortage being reported from buyers of goods abroad, especially in apparel exports. 3. When the export cargo is received in Export warehouse, CFS custodian is entirely responsible for the safe and secure custody of the goods meant to be exported. Any sample of export cargo is to be drawn From the export cargo from Export Warehouse by a Customs officer or any other agencies in the presence of Exporter or his representative, the custodian shall allow it only on the strength of a letter from concerned AC/DC (CFS). 4. No other drawal of Export sample from Export warehouse in the CFS by CHAs or exporters shall be permitted. 5. The custodian of export cargo shall maintain a proper record of details of samples drawn by Customs Officers or any Other agencies and the corresponding letters mentioned in point no 3. 6. CFS custodian responsible for pilferage or shortage of goods in any Export Warehouse if the conditions mentioned above in points 3, 4 and 5 are not followed. The CFS custodians shall submit a report in case of shortage or pilferage to the Docks (Admin). 7. The contents of this Public Notice shall be a Standing Order to all the officers of CFSs and the Docks Administration Difficulty, if any, may be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner of Customs (Docks - Administration).
