No:-VIII/48-108/Cus/T/2017 Dated: 21.09.2017 Public Notice: - 29/2017 Sub: Invitation of applications for the Written Examination under Regulation 6 of the CBLR, 2013 to be held on 19.01.2018 reg. 1. Attention of all concerned is invited towards the Notice for Customs Broker Examination issued by the Directorate General of Inspection, Customs Central Excise , New Delhi which is annexed to this Public Notice in Annexure-I. Application from the eligible candidates for working as Custom Broker in the Jurisdiction of Ahmnedabad Customs are invited under Regulation 4 of the CBLR, 2013 to be submitted in the prescribed Form A' given in Annexure -ll. The Application must be submitted so as to reach this office between 16.10.2017 to 17.11.2017 for which written exam is scheduled to be held on 19.01.2018. 2. The Regulation 5 of the CBLR, 2013 prescribes the conditions to be fulfilled by applicants are extracted as under for information of applicants:- The applicant for a licence to act as a Customs Broker in a Customs Station, shall prove to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Customs, that : (a) he is a citizen of India; (b) he is a person of sound mind; (c) he is not adjudicated as insolvent; (d) he has neither been convicted by a competent court for an offence nor any criminal proceeding is pending against him in any court of law; and (e) he has not been penalized for any offence under the Act, the Central Excise Act, 1944 and the Finance Act, 1994. (f) an individual applicant or in case the applicant is a firm or a company, its partner or director or an authorized employee who may handle the Customs work shall: (i) be a graduate from a recognized University, and (ii) possess a professional degree such as Masters or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or Management, CA/MBA/LLB/ACMA/FCMA or Diploma in Customs Clearance work from any Institutes or University recognized by the Government or is having at least two years experience in transacting Customs Broker work as G-Card holder; (g) he is a retired Group A officer from the Indian Customs and Central Excise Services having a minimum of five years experience in Croup 'A' service; (h) the applicant has financial viability as evidenced by a certificate issued by a Scheduled Bank or such other proof acceptable to the Commissioner of Customs in terms of possession of assets of value of not less than five lakhs rupees: Provided that for the purpose of his satisfaction, the Commissioner of Customs may make enquiries as may be deemed fit. 3. The application should be submitted in Form A given at Annexure -II along with documents mentioned in Annexure-III. 4. The application for the examination complete in all respect along with enclosure should be submitted at Sevottam Cell, 1st Floor, in the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs, Custom House, Nr Aakashvani Navrangpura, Ahmedabad-380009 before 18:00 Hrs of 17.11.2017. 5. Before submitting the application, applicant should ensure the completeness of the applications, as incomplete applications shall be rejected without any notice/deficiency memo issued to the applicant. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained by this office. 6. Information regarding Final List of eligible candidates and their Roll Nos will be put on this office website (http://www.ahmedabadcustoms.gov.in )as well as displayed on Notice Board in due course. In case the declaration made and /or documents furnished are found to be incorrect, the application is liable to be rejected or licence is liable to be cancelled. 7. As per the regulations, the candidate who successfully passes the written examination shall be called for an oral exam. A candidates needs to pass both written oral exam to qualify for issuance of licence. An applicant, who fails to clear the oral exam within two years from the date of declaration of result of the related written examination, shall be treated as having failed in examination.
