Modification in procedure regarding registration of account for enabling payment of drawback into the exporters bank in any Core Banking enabled bank/branch across the country - Customs - PUBLIC NOTICE No. 31/2008Extract OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS CUSTOM HOUSE, COCHIN F.No.C1/04/2008-Cus.TU dated:28.10.2008 PUBLIC NOTICE No. 31/2008 Subject: - Modification in procedure regarding registration of account for enabling payment of drawback into the exporters bank in any Core Banking enabled bank/branch across the country reg. Attention of the Exporters, Custom House Agents, and the Trade is invited to the Public Notice .24/2008-Systems dated 07.07.2008 issued by this Customs house regarding registration of account for enabling payment of drawback into the Exporters bank in any core banking enabled bank/branch across the country. 2. During the course of implementation of new procedure, certain difficulties relating to the validation of the details regarding Exporters Account numbers arose. The problems were analysed in consultation with the concerned banks, NIC and RBI and the necessary changes have now been made in the software to facilitate correct payment of Drawback. 3. As a concomitant to the implementation of these software changes, it is necessary for all exporters to reconfirm their account details, which have already been registered in the ICES/EDI system. The specific aspect requiring confirmation is that the bank account number should be entered into the System exactly in the way it has been indicated by the respective bank without any changes being made in account number at the time of data entry by the Customs. All exporters are therefore requested to obtain a certificate from their respective banks as per the format enclosed as Annexure-I. Such a certificate would be required separately for every bank account, which has been registered by the exporter in the system. The certificate would be provided to the designated Customs officer at the Customs House who would generate a Check List for confirmation by exporter. 4. It may be noted that in case the account particulars are not reconfirmed in the Customs System, payment of Drawback is likely to be held up on account of problems in electronic interface between the Customs and the Banks. 5. The Customs House has provided separate counters from 10 AM to 4 PM for this purpose. 6. This Public Notice would be effective from the 28 October 2008. Sd/- (B.SYED MOHAMMED) COMMISSIONER
