F.No.EDI-18/2007 JNCH Dated: 20. 03.2008 Public Notice No. 30/2008 (Referred / amended vide P.N.No. 31/2008, 46/2008, 78/2008, 01/2009,) Subject: Procedure for E-Payment of Customs Duties under the Indian Customs EDI system (ICES) Imports regarding 1. Attention of importers, CHAs and the trade is invited to the Public Notice No 33/2007 dated 31.07.2007 vide which facility of payment of Customs duty through net banking was extended to the importers at JNCH wef 1.8.2007 for Bank of India and State Bank of India .The service of e-Payment through net banking is offered by the banks without any extra cost. 2. The Public Notice No 33/2007 dated 31.3.2007 outlines the changes to the Customs procedures, on the ICES for importers/CHAs who choose to pay duties through e-Payment mode. 3. With a view to reduce the transaction cost of the importers and expedite the time taken for customs clearance the department is considering to make the E-payement facililty mandatory for the top 50 importers (list enclosed).The date from which the E-payment will be made mandatory will be notified separately. 4. The top 50 importers (as per list enclosed) are requested to prepare themselves for mandatory E-payment. The importer /CHA must have an account with any branch of State Bank of India or Bank of India (The requirements for opening of bank account with the banks are enclosed). 5. For smooth transition to mandatory E-payement the top 50 importers/CHAs are requested to start availing the E-payment facility by observing the procedure specified in the Public Notice No 33/2007 dated 31.07.2007. 6. In case of any problem, the Importer/ CHA can contact the ICEGATE 24 hour helpdesk by phone at (011) 23370133 or (011) 23379020 or by email at [email protected]. 7. In case of exceptional difficulty in making mandatory E-payment, the request for payment by demand draft, pay order, etc should be made to AC (EDI) / Systems Manager which will be considered on a case to case basis.
