No 208/79/88-CX.6] Government of India Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) New Delhi Subject : Fixation of targets for adjudication work - Regarding. Attention is invited to Board's F. No. 208/27/88-CX.6, dated 17-6-1988 Circular No. 50/88-CX.6 under which minimum target for adjudication 75 cases per annum by each adjudication authority has been fixed. It has been observed that a number of cases involving duty of Rs. 1 crore and above are pending for adjudication for long periods. Board has, therefore, decided that priority should be given in adjudication of cases involving duty of Rs. 1 crore and above and desired that all cases involving duty of Rs. 1 crore and above should be taken up for adjudication immediately and decided within the minimum target of 75 cases to be adjudicated per annum. The progress of adjudication of these cases could be watched through the monthly reports on anti- evasion performance.
