I am directed to refer to your letter No. C.No. IV/16/238/87-CX.I, dated 8.7.1987, expressing doubts about the availability of Modvat credit on foundry chemicals like sodium silicate, foundry oils, used in the preparation of sand moulds, and to say that the Board is inclined to agree with the views expressed by you that Modvat credit is not admissible in such a situation.
