Zonal Committees - Instruction amended. - Income Tax - 1464/CBDT

INSTRUCTION NO. 1464/CBDT Dated: March 26, 1982 I am directed to invite a reference to the boards Instruction No.1373 [F.No.375/30/80-IT(B)] dated 6th January 1981 on the above subject. 2. Board has since reviewed the working of the said Zonal committees and with a view to streamlining their working decided to modify the Instruction referred to above as in the succeeding paragraphs. 3. Though the constitution of the Zonal committees for various charges is fixed as per the above Instruction, there are situations where a member may not be available for the meeting due to certain urgent pre-occupations. It is therefore decided that a zonal committee may consist of any 3 Commissioners who are readily available so that the committee can meet regularly. However where a zonal committee has considered a case but has required further information the constitution of the zonal committee should not as far as possible change when further information is required to be considered in the same case. 4. The CIT(Recovery) wherever, available can also be nominated as member on such zonal committees. 5. The meeting of the zonal committee may be held in the 2nd week of the month. 6. This may please be brought to the notice of all the officers in your charge.
